Join Coastal Kayak Touring Company at the Pine Island Resort Beach Club for an educational and exhilarating kayak or SUP tour into the ocean. Your professional guide will teach you how to launch from the beach and navigate through the small surf. Once beyond the surf, you will learn about the ocean and barrier island dynamics. Sightings of dolphin, diving pelican, and osprey are very common. If ocean conditions are not conducive, join us on a tour across the street at the Pine Island Audubon Sanctuary. These tours meander through the calm waters of the sheltered marsh trails of the Audubon Sanctuary. These tours go out daily at 9:00 AM & 11:30 AM weather permitting.
Between the villages of Duck and Corolla is the pristine marsh of the Pine Island Audubon Sanctuary. Miles of secluded water trails make this arguably the most intricate marsh maze on the Outer Banks (2,600 acres of marsh). The National Audubon Society has preserved a piece of the Outer Banks as it was before man arrived. In their goal to save wildlife habitat they have also created a kayaker’s dream. One of the unique features of this tour is the solitude you will experience. Coastal Kayak has partnered with the National Audubon Society to offer this exclusive tour of one of the Outer Banks least traveled and most sought after wildlife sanctuaries. The tour starts with a short walk to our boat house. From here your guide will lead you into the maze of island through which only he or she knows the way.
Tours are permitted from April through September and leave at sunrise (check time), 9:00 AM, and a few hours before sunset.
